What we treat

PHYSIOTHERAPY 

Our aim is to provide quality evidence-based Physiotherapy using the latest hands-on treatment techniques and sports medicine guidelines. You’ll have a full half  hour of one on one time with your Physio and never be left alone while they work on another patient.

Your Physiotherapist is highly trained to assess and treat pain and dysfunction of the musculo-skeletal system, including common conditions such as:

  • Lower back pain
  • Traumatic and acute injuries
  • Postural and traumatic neck, back and shoulder pain
  • Headaches
  • Rehabilitation following orthopaedic surgery, Eg: ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, ankle fractures.

  • Congenital and developmental back problems
  • Joint sprains
  • Muscle tears and strains
  • Runner’s biomechanics and lower limb pain

Both Alana and Lachlan are highly skilled in manual therapy, dry needling and exercise rehabilitation. We tailor our treatment and rehabilitation plans to the individual – no matter what their goal may be.

Our particular area of expertise is lower limb biomechanics and, more specifically, foot mechanics. With a particular interest  in the diagnosis and treatment of running injuries and foot biomechanics, having treated hundreds of elite endurance runners, sprinters, triathletes and social runners over many years. CHILDREN’S FEET

Our Team

Alana Hassell

(Director / Physiotherapist)

BPhty. M.A.P.A.

    

Alana graduated from the University of South Australia in 2011 and has since been working in Spinal and Sports Physiotherapy positions, she has been part of the SVPP since 2014.

Alana is proficient in trigger point and myofascial dry needling techniques. She has a special interest in treating cervicogenic headaches and migraines as well as sporting injuries in particular acute traumatic knee and ankle injuries, acute or chronic hip pain and running injuries. She is also trained in assessment and treatment of vertigo and vestibular dysfunction.

She has extensive experience in treating elite Football and Volleyball players, having maintained professional relationships with high level sporting clubs including South Adelaide Football Club, Volleyball Victoria and University Blues Volleyball Club (National Volleyball League). 

Alana is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association ensuring ongoing professional development and evidence based practice.

Gemma Armeni

(Physiotherapist) 

Ba. Physiotherapy (Honours)


Gemma graduated from Monash University (honours) and has since been working in multiple roles with Keilor Thunder in the NBL, Footscray’s Victoria Football League  team and Racing Victoria’s  Jockey Apprentice School. She has vast experience on the sports field in the management acute and chronic sports injuries, in particularly  upper and lower limb tendinopathy.  Gemma is proficient in dry needling and enjoys rehabilitation and injury management for all clientele, not just those on the sports field. 
 
Gemma has a background in equestrian and horse racing and is an avid gym-goer that’s passionate about health and fitness.

Alice Gofron 

(Podiatrist) 

Ba. Health Sc. M. Podiatry Practice 

Alice graduated from LaTrobe University and has since worked in both the public and private sector. Alice has been a member of the SVPP team sine 2017 and is our Podiatry team manager. 

With her attention to detail, and knack of identifying ‘hard to find’ underlying factors, she has built a reputation for getting great results. Alice draws upon her expertise in a range of treatment techniques and footwear knowledge to get patients on their best treatment pathway. 

Alice grew up with love of dancing and has an invested interest in pre-pointe and ballet assessments, she also enjoys treating complex foot pathologies and hard to treat foot and lower limb pains. She has an interest in ingrown toe nail management, diabetic foot care and assessment and acute and chronic foot injuries, however is passionate about all things feet!

Alice consults on Tuesday (10-7pm)  and Thursdays (8am – 4pm)

 

Lidia Ambrosino 

(Podiatrist) 

Ba. Health Sc. M. Podiatry Practice 

Lidia graduated from La Trobe University in 2013 with a Bachelor in Health Sciences and Masters in Podiatric Practice. Her passion for this field purely came from the thought of feet being one of the most vital parts of the body.

Lidia has worked both in the public and private health sector within Melbourne and central London. Lidia loves all aspects of the podiatric profession and has a keen interest in diabetic foot care. She also enjoys the management of in-grown toenails (including surgical management); assessing, diagnosing and managing musculoskeletal injuries; foot wear assessment and education; and all general podiatric care. She is passionate about caring for others and helping them be pain-free and comfortable in their daily lives. Lidia enjoys volunteering at the Oxfam Trail Walk for blister control and helping people complete their challenge!

She maintains continuous professional development by attending seminars and workshops across all areas of podiatry and is committed to providing her patients with the best possible care.

Lidia consults on Wednesdays and alternate Saturdays 


We support people who support us and are proud to be sponsoring Melbourne University Renegades Volleyball Club and looking after their athletes. We also work extremely closely with Volleyball Victoria and the State Team program for both beach and indoor Volleyball. 

Pricing

Please note the below prices apply from April 1st 2023.  
Physiotherapy Initial Consultation: $95

Assessment, explanation and initial treatment of the injury. In general the treatment may involve a mix of hands-on therapy such as deep tissue massage, mobilization, manipulation or dry needling, as well as an exercise program to allow self-management and reduce the likelihood of injury recurrence.
Initial consultation fees apply for all new injuries, or if you have not attended for a previous injury in the same calendar year.

Physiotherapy Follow-up Consultation (standard): $85/$95 

We will continue to manage your condition(s) or problem. Each session will likely include a mixture of hands on treatment,  exercise rehabilitation and/or education.
$95 follow up consults are those where two distinct areas of treatment within a standard session time. 

Physiotherapy Extended Consultation: $140
An hour long consultation for patients that require the treatment of two or more distinct areas or problems.
Vertigo initial Consultation: $140

Vertigo initial assessments is 1 hour in duration as assessment can take some time. Given the nature and severity of clients symptoms we allow ample time for recovery from treatment before you leave.
If booking for vertigo please mention this to reception staff when making your appointment.
Follow up vertigo appointments are half an hour in duration, standard fee applies.

Podiatry Initial Consultation: $100

40 minutes of consultation time. This includes the assessment, explanation and initial treatment of the pathology or injury. In this appointment your Podiatrist will outline your treatment plan and any additional costs associated with your management plan – for example: orthotics, surgeries or other consumables.

Podiatry Follow Up Consultation: $95/$85

Your podiatrist will determine how much time is needed for your follow up consultation depending on the complexity of your pathology and time needed for treatment. Here they will continue treatment and management of your issue. 

POdiatry ingrown toenail surgery $500

This price  includes your 1 hour surgical appointment and two follow up consultations to redress and check healing of the surgical site.

Private Health Cover:
On the spot Health Insurance Claims are available using the Hicaps system. Includes all major and most minor health funds (for participating health funds click here). Typically your private health insurer will pay between half and two thirds of the treatment cost, depending on your level of cover. Please bring your private health card with you. We also accept payment using cash, Visa, Mastercard and EFTPOS.
 
BUPA and HCF customers:

Additionally, we are affiliated with multiple major Private Health Funds to provide rewarding services to members:

BUPA‘s Member’s First program allows BUPA members to enjoy a lower than normal out of pocket cost on Physiotherapy and Podiatry consultations. 

The “More for Muscles” program provides higher level rebates for HCF members. The initial Physiotherapy consultation is 100% covered by HCF for those with this level of cover.

Workcover and TAC:
Compensable injuries such as Workcover and TAC claims are commonly treated. Due to the inability of WorkSafe and the TAC to pay market rates for Physiotherapy treatments, our policy is to charge the client our normal rates, the cost of the treatment can then be claimed back via the insurer. You will usually receive most of the cost back, however there will be a small “gap” depending on your insurer’s policies. You must have lodged a claim already to access Physiotherapy services.
 
Medicare EPC: $70 ($56 medicare rebate) 
In certain cases, you may be eligible for treatment under the EPC plan (Enhanced Primary Care plan). This enables up to five Medicare-funded sessions each calendar year a $14 gap payment applies for each session after the $56 rebate is applied. 
You will need to contact your GP to find out if you are eligible for this program. Generally, you will qualify for this program if you have a chronic medical condition that is being managed by your GP, and requires Physiotherapy treatment. Consult your GP for further information.
